Free Tesla Charging in Cleveland: What Was Actually Free

I visited several Level 2 chargers around Greater Cleveland to find out what was actually free, what required payment and which stops were practical enough to use again.

Finding a charger on a map is easy. Finding one that is actually free, available, compatible with your car and somewhere you feel comfortable waiting is a completely different search.

Over the course of about two months, I visited several Level 2 charging locations around Greater Cleveland with Taiji, my Tesla Model X. Some appeared in searches for free charging. Others were located somewhere I was already going, such as the library, the gym or a park.

Only one location was free in my actual experience: North Coast Mitsubishi in Bedford. Even there, I cannot promise that the chargers are officially available for general public use. I was able to plug in without being charged or asked to leave, but the dealership has not confirmed a public-charging policy to me.

The other locations were paid, restricted or simply not practical enough to replace charging at home. Here is what I found at each stop and what I would do differently next time.

Rates, access rules and charger availability can change. Always confirm the price in the charging app and read the posted parking signs before plugging in.

A quick connector note for Tesla drivers

The non-Tesla Level 2 stations in this article use J1772 connectors. A Tesla driver needs a compatible J1772 adapter to use them.

This matters because seeing an available charger in an app does not automatically mean you can pull up and connect. Check your adapter before making a special trip, especially if you are searching for charging away from the Tesla Supercharger network.

North Coast Mitsubishi in Bedford: the only location that was free for me

North Coast Mitsubishi is located at 500 Broadway Avenue in Bedford. The dealership currently lists sales hours of 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday and is closed on Sunday.

This is the only location in my search where I actually charged without paying. During one visit, Taiji went from approximately 24 percent to 53 percent in a little over two hours.

No one at the dealership told me that the chargers were officially open to the public. I simply pulled in, connected the car and went to get my nails done nearby. One employee jokingly told me I could not use the charger and then immediately said he was playing. I have returned and charged more than once without a problem, but that is still different from having a clearly published public-charging policy.

For that reason, I would ask the dealership before relying on this location or stay with the car while it charges.

I have left Taiji connected while getting a pedicure, but Sentry Mode showed people walking around and looking inside the car. That makes sense at a dealership where other electric vehicles may be parked near the chargers. Employees know their inventory, but customers may initially assume that an unfamiliar vehicle is for sale.

If you are not comfortable leaving your car in that environment, bring something to do and wait inside the vehicle.

What is nearby in Bedford

The useful part of this location is that there are places within walking distance where you can spend the charging time.

BossLady NailedIt operates inside Lotus Beauty Salon at 450 Broadway Avenue. This is where I have gone for pedicures while Taiji charges.
Walgreens is nearby at 520 Broadway Avenue.
Coffee Cup Family Restaurant is a local restaurant at 444 Broadway Avenue.
Zeppe's Pizzeria is at 320 Broadway Avenue.

At Zeppe's, I tried the Alfredo pasta, salad, garlic knots and a cookie. The pasta portion was large enough to divide into two meals, but it was not something I would specifically return for. I would go back for the garlic knots and the cookie.

The combination of free charging in my experience and nearby businesses made Bedford the most useful stop I tested. The uncertainty around official public access is the reason I would not describe it as a guaranteed free public charger.

Lakewood Park: listed as free in some searches, but it was paid

Lakewood Park was one of the locations that appeared in some search results as a possible free charger. When I arrived and checked the ChargePoint station, it was not free. The price was approximately $0.24 per kilowatt-hour when I checked.

The Level 2 charger is near the pool area and uses a J1772 connector. Because I was specifically searching for free charging, I chose not to plug in.

This was a good example of why I would not plan a trip around an old listing or map label. Open the current ChargePoint listing and check the station screen when you arrive. Parking rules can also change, so read the signs surrounding the charger rather than relying only on the app.

Upper Edgewater Park: inexpensive by the minute, but not free

The FLO chargers at Upper Edgewater Park are located at 7600 Memorial Shoreway, above the beach rather than down by the sand. The app showed Level 2 J1772 charging with power up to 6.2 kW.

When I checked, the listed price was $0.025 per minute. That equals $1.50 per hour. At the full listed 6.2 kW output, the theoretical cost would be about $0.24 per kilowatt-hour. The effective cost can be higher if the car charges more slowly because the station bills by time rather than by the exact amount of energy delivered.

The app also warned users to review the parking signage because separate restrictions or fees could apply.

I did not charge here because my goal was to find something free. Still, this could be a reasonable option for someone already planning to walk through the upper park and willing to pay for a slower Level 2 session.

CWRU Lot 1A outside the Glennan Building: newly posted restrictions

Lot 1A is outside the Glennan Building at Case Western Reserve University and is visible from Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. The lot has two EverCharge Level 2 units with J1772 connectors. The price was approximately $0.23 per kilowatt-hour when I checked.

I have entered the property multiple times without encountering a gate or being stopped. I have not charged there.

During my most recent visit, I noticed substantially more signage than I remembered seeing during earlier visits. The current signs state that a CWRU permit is required and designate the spaces for CWRU vehicles. Because of that signage, I would not consider this an ordinary public charging option or recommend arriving without first confirming that you are authorized to use it.

Even before the new signage, this was not a location where I would have felt comfortable leaving Taiji unattended. Without confirmed permission, I would not use the chargers. Even with authorization, I would stay with the vehicle.

One to One Fitness and the Veale Center garage: useful only if you are already going there

The chargers inside the Veale Center parking garage at Case Western Reserve University are separate from the outdoor Lot 1A chargers.

The garage is Lot 53, beside One to One Fitness on Adelbert Road. A credit card or tap-to-pay method is required to enter. One to One officially provides parking validation only to members and guests who are using the facility. The validation currently covers up to three hours on weekdays and four hours on weekends. If you exceed that time, you can be charged for the full parking period.

The Level 2 charging is still paid. Parking validation does not make the charging session free.

I visited the location but did not charge. For me, this would make sense only if I were already working out at One to One and wanted to add some range while I was inside. It would not be my choice for a special charging trip.

Warrensville Heights Library: convenient, but paid

The Warrensville Heights Branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library is located at 4415 Northfield Road. The ChargePoint station has Level 2 J1772 connectors.

The station showed approximately $0.24 per kilowatt-hour when I checked. I did not charge because I was still looking for a free option.

The library currently lists the following branch hours:

Monday through Thursday: 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Friday and Saturday: 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Sunday: 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Charging-station availability can extend beyond building hours, but I would verify the current ChargePoint listing and parking access before planning an after-hours session.

This is a better example of charging while doing something you already intended to do. If I am attending book club, browsing the library or spending time inside, paying for a Level 2 session may be more useful than driving somewhere solely to charge.

It was approximately $0.24 per kilowatt-hour when I checked, so I did not use it during my search for free charging.

Was searching for free public charging worth it?

As an experiment, yes. As a regular charging strategy, probably not.

Charging at home costs me approximately $0.10 per kilowatt-hour. When a public Level 2 station costs approximately $0.23 or $0.24 per kilowatt-hour, I am paying more than twice my estimated home rate while also spending time driving to the charger and waiting.

The Bedford dealership worked because I was already going to a nearby nail appointment and the session did not cost me anything. The paid locations make the most sense when the charging happens alongside something I already want to do, such as visiting the library, working out or walking through a park.

That is the real lesson from this search. The best charger is not always the one with the lowest posted price. It is the one that is compatible, available, permitted, safe enough for your comfort level and located somewhere useful.

My practical recommendations

Do not assume that a charger marked free in an old search result is still free.
Open the current charging-network app before driving to the location.
Read the physical parking and permit signs after you arrive.
Carry the correct J1772 adapter if your Tesla requires one.
Choose charging stops near something you already plan to do.
Do not treat the Bedford dealership as guaranteed public charging without asking.
Do not use the CWRU Lot 1A chargers without confirming that you meet the posted permit and vehicle restrictions.
Compare the public rate with your home-charging cost before deciding whether the trip is worthwhile.

I will continue updating this guide as I personally test more Cleveland-area charging options. I would rather tell you exactly what happened at a smaller number of locations than create a long list of chargers I have never visited.

Cleveland Sirens FanFest 2026 Review: VIP Access, Merch and What Fans Should Know

The first Cleveland Sirens FanFest was polished, free and genuinely fun. Here is what parking, VIP access, official merch and becoming an initial-payment holder were actually like.

The first Cleveland Sirens FanFest felt like the beginning of something bigger than a single afternoon at Edgewater Beach. Cleveland has had professional women's basketball before, but this was a chance to watch a new hometown team build its identity from the beginning.

The event itself was free, polished and easy to enjoy. There were local vendors, food trucks, basketball activities, photo opportunities, official Sirens merchandise and plenty of energy around the new team. My mom and I both placed our ticket-membership initial payments while we were there, and we absolutely got caught up in the excitement. We each spent around $300 inside the official team store.

The one part that did not live up to its name was the VIP experience. It offered a shaded place to sit, a drink ticket, a wristband and a large Sirens flag, but it did not feel meaningfully more exclusive or convenient than general admission. A faster way into the merchandise store would have been far more valuable than the VIP checkout lane that was offered.

Here is what the first Cleveland Sirens FanFest was actually like, including parking, the crowd, official merchandise, initial-payment-holder access and whether I thought the VIP experience was worth it.

The Cleveland Sirens are scheduled to begin playing at Rocket Arena in 2028. At the time of FanFest, the standard ticket-membership initial payment was $28 per seat and the Premium initial payment was $100 per seat. These are initial payments, not the full season-ticket prices. According to the team, seat selection is expected to begin in summer 2027, and earlier initial-payment holders receive better priority.

Arriving and parking at Edgewater Beach

The traffic backup began while I was still on the highway, and the drive became slow and stop-and-go as I approached Edgewater Beach.

I entered the drive toward FanFest at approximately 12:01 p.m. and was parking at approximately 12:25 p.m. Tesla Full Self-Driving was genuinely helpful during that slow portion of the arrival. Even so, the traffic was not the longest wait of the day. That was the line to enter the merchandise store.

Event staff were outside directing traffic and parking. Because the event was so well attended, people were being directed onto the grass instead of only using the designated parking spaces. The spaces closest to the event appeared to have filled earlier or been used by vendors and people working the event.

Parking was free, and once we parked, the walk was only about three minutes. The entrance was easy to recognize because there was a large Sirens FanFest sign near the front of the beach.

There was no meaningful general-admission line. Because the event was spread across a public park, people were able to walk in and begin exploring.

What there was to do at FanFest

The event was well produced without feeling overly structured. It was the kind of low-stakes Cleveland outing where you could stop by, walk around, take photos, shop or make an afternoon of it.

A blue half court for basketball activities
Multiple Sirens photo opportunities
A large sand display featuring the phrase “Hear the Call” and a basketball
A children's area
A cool-down area
Games and activities on the beach
Food trucks and other food and beverage options

Local vendors

A pop-up version of Center Court, the official team store
A live DJ playing throughout the event
Sirens dancers helping energize the crowd and distribute giveaways

The vendor area included a blind-date-with-a-book seller, permanent jewelry, soaps, Cleveland merchandise and other local products. I also enjoyed running into a friend while we were there, which added to the neighborhood-event feeling.

The event was well attended, but most of the grounds did not feel uncomfortably crowded. The main exception was the Center Court pop-up, which served as the official merchandise store for the event. Entry was controlled so the store itself did not become too packed, but that created a very long line outside.

Becoming an initial-payment holder at the event

My mom and I had not placed our initial payments before FanFest. We did it at the event.

People who already held an eligible ticket in their account could scan it to verify their status. Staff were outside asking attendees whether their tickets had been scanned, and verified holders received wristbands. After my mom and I placed our payments, we received wristbands and large Cleveland Sirens flags.

The official website called this “Fan Fest VIP Access,” but it is more accurate to describe us as ticket-membership initial-payment holders. The $28 and $100 amounts were payments toward future ticket memberships, not the complete price of the season tickets.

The standard $28 initial payment holds a place in the future seat-selection order. The $100 Premium initial payment provides first priority ahead of other initial-payment holders and is intended for the team's more elevated hospitality and seating experience. Full membership pricing will not be known until seat selection.

Was the Sirens VIP experience worth it?

For me, the event-day VIP experience did not feel especially valuable.

The dedicated section was inside the Edgewater pavilion, above the beach. It offered shade and a place to sit and eat without being in the sand. Holders also received a drink ticket that could be used for an alcoholic or nonalcoholic option, including canned drinks, seltzer, water or lemonade.

The wristband identified ticket holders, and the large Sirens flag was the exclusive giveaway we received. The flag is fun if you want full superfan energy at a game, but it is large enough that storing and carrying it may not be practical for everyone.

Towels, hats, stickers and buttons were also distributed around FanFest, but those were general giveaways available to people who happened to be nearby when staff were passing them out. They were not all exclusive VIP gifts.

The pavilion did not seem to be closely monitored, so the seating area did not feel truly restricted. There was also no noticeable line to enter the VIP area. The line people saw near the pavilion was largely for holders waiting to redeem their drink tickets.

The most useful VIP benefit was supposed to be a fast-track checkout lane inside Center Court. In practice, it did not move faster. The VIP counter had one person checking people out, while the general checkout area had several employees helping customers. Wristbands did not appear to be checked closely at that line either.

What would have made VIP access worthwhile was priority entry into Center Court. The wait to enter the store was the biggest obstacle of the day, and merchandise was selling out while people waited.

The Center Court merchandise experience

The Center Court pop-up was my favorite part of FanFest, and it was also the most chaotic.

The pop-up version of the official team store carried a wide selection of Sirens merchandise, including shirts, sweatshirts, jerseys, cropped tops, baby tees, denim jackets, hats, bags, children's apparel and men's apparel. I saw sizes ranging from extra small through 2X, along with children's sizes.

Prices matched what I saw online. Among the items I personally purchased, the least expensive was approximately $36 and the most expensive was approximately $70. There were more expensive pieces in the store as well.

My purchases included a sweatshirt, cropped shirts, baby tees and a hat. I filmed a separate detailed merchandise haul with the individual items and prices, so I will share the full breakdown there.

One event-specific touch was the chance to select an additional patch with a hat purchase and have it heat-pressed onto the hat. I have not confirmed whether that service is also available at the permanent Center Court store at Rocket Arena, so I would treat that as a FanFest detail rather than an everyday promise.

The store accepted cards and Apple Pay. I did not confirm whether cash was accepted.

The merchandise strategy I would use next time

If shopping is important to you, treat the Center Court line as your first stop.

The best strategy for two people would be for one person to get in the store line immediately while the other explores the event, takes photos or gets food. By the time we entered, some merchandise and promotional items were already gone. A light baby-blue tote with the dark blue Sirens logo was available for people who spent more than $100, but the bags had run out before we completed our shopping. Hats also sold out while we were there.

The controlled entry made the store comfortable enough to browse once we got inside, but waiting too long to join the line meant losing access to some of the most popular items.

Food, shade and places to sit

There were food trucks farther down the beach, and attendees could also purchase food from Edgewater Park. The pavilion gave initial-payment holders a shaded place to sit and eat away from the sand.

There were additional places to sit farther down the beach, although those would be better suited to people comfortable spending time in the sand. The event also included a cool-down area, which was a thoughtful addition for an August afternoon.

What I loved and what could have been better

From a production standpoint, FanFest looked good. The blue basketball court, branded sand display, signs, photo opportunities, dancers and official merchandise created the feeling of a real team launch rather than a small promotional pop-up.

As someone born and raised in Cleveland, there is something special about rooting for the home team. The Cavaliers, Guardians and Browns are already deeply established. With the Sirens, fans get to watch a new identity, culture and community form in real time.

I also love that this is renewed support for professional women's basketball in Cleveland. The city previously had the Cleveland Rockers, and now a new generation of fans will get to help build the excitement around the Sirens.

The VIP experience was the one disappointment. A priority store-entry line would have created real value, especially because inventory was moving quickly. A VIP checkout sign was much less useful when the general checkout had more staff.

I also would have loved an early look at the future mascot. The team name and branding had only just been announced, and the first season is still two years away, so I understand why every part of the team identity was not ready. Still, seeing a mascot at FanFest would have added another memorable reveal.

Would I attend another Cleveland Sirens event?

Absolutely.

FanFest did not make me decide to become an initial-payment holder because I was likely going to support the hometown team anyway. What it did was make the beginning of the Sirens feel tangible. My mom and I could join, shop the first collection, see other fans in the team colors and begin imagining what the atmosphere could become by 2028.

I am especially interested in seeing what additional events and access the team offers initial-payment holders as support continues to grow. Being part of a new Cleveland sports community from the beginning feels different from joining a fan base that has already existed for decades.

The first FanFest was a polished, fun and genuinely worthwhile free event. I would attend again. I simply would not base the decision to place an initial payment on the FanFest VIP perks alone. The real value is securing your priority for future seats and choosing to be part of the team before the first game is played.

EDWINS Oyster Bar in Cleveland Heights: What to Know Before You Go

What we ordered, what I would skip, where to park and the lovely wine shop nearby.

The quick answer

EDWINS Oyster Bar is a tiny, polished seafood bar in Cleveland Heights that works especially well when you want fresh oysters and a more intimate experience than a full restaurant meal. My mother and I shared the $60 Grand Plateau, and the oysters were an easy 10 out of 10 for me. The cold crab surprised me even more. It was beautifully seasoned and earned five gold stars, even though I do not typically enjoy cold crab. Seating is first come, first served, so our immediate seats at the bar were partly good timing. I would return for the oysters and crab, but I would skip the fried smelt next time.

Pescatarians should ask about every warm dish before ordering. What I believe was clam chowder contained bacon, which I did not expect from the menu description, so I sent it back. I cannot confirm the exact name because that item does not appear on the current online menu.

My first visit to EDWINS Oyster Bar

My mother and I stopped at EDWINS Oyster Bar on a Friday at approximately 5:00 p.m., right around the beginning of dinner service.

The space is small. Baby, it is tiny in there.

We got lucky. Two people were leaving just as we walked in, which meant two seats opened at the bar and we did not have to wait. I would not assume that will happen every time, especially because the Oyster Bar does not take reservations. If every seat is occupied, guests may need to add their names to the waiting list.

Although we were seated immediately, service was not immediate. It took a little time for our server to come around with water, take care of us, and for the food to arrive. The bar was busy, so the pace made sense in context. It did not ruin the experience, but it is worth knowing if you are planning a quick stop before another reservation or event.

What we ordered

Because it was the two of us, we decided to share one of the larger seafood platters rather than order everything separately.

The Grand Plateau worked well for two people because we could each have three shrimp and split the oysters and crab. At $60, that comes to $30 per person before the fried smelt, drinks, tax, and tip. It felt like a good way to experience several parts of the raw bar without ordering a full platter for each person.

The oysters were excellent across the board. They tasted fresh, cool, and flavorful. Some were especially good with only a squeeze of lemon. Others worked beautifully with the vinegar, Tabasco, and lemon served alongside them.

The server is normally supposed to tell you which oyster varieties are on the plate so you can decide whether to reorder a particular East Coast or West Coast oyster. That did not happen with our platter, so I cannot tell you exactly which varieties we tasted. I can tell you that every oyster was good. You can also request a particular coast or order individual oysters separately if you already know what you prefer.

The crab was the real surprise for me. I typically do not like cold crab, but this was very well seasoned and earned five gold stars. I would happily go back for the crab alone. The platter also arrived with the kind of presentation that makes the experience feel special without requiring a formal dinner.

The fried smelt gave us something warm alongside the chilled seafood, but it was not a repeat order for me. The fish were so small that there was very little meat inside. The coating was extremely crisp, but without much filling beneath it, the dish tasted more like fried exterior than fish. The balance simply did not work for me. If I returned, I would put that $12 toward more oysters or another seafood selection instead.

A pescatarian note about the chowder

It was windy and a little chilly that day, so I wanted something warm with the platter. I ordered what I believe was clam chowder and assumed it would be seafood based because we were at an oyster bar and nearly everything around it on the menu centered on seafood. I cannot confirm the exact dish name because I did not find it on the current online menu. The restaurant may have offered a different in-house or seasonal menu during my visit.

That assumption did not work in my favor. The chowder contained bacon.

I did not remember seeing meat called out clearly when I ordered, and I did not ask because I assumed a seafood-bar chowder would be pescatarian. Once I learned it contained bacon, I sent it back.

The useful lesson is simple: if you do not eat pork or other meat, confirm the ingredients before ordering any soup or chowder, even at a seafood-focused restaurant. Recipes and menus can change, so ask the server directly during your visit.

The atmosphere and service

EDWINS describes the Oyster Bar as an intimate, walk-in space, and that is accurate. The experience is centered on the counter, the seafood, and the preparation happening nearby. It feels more like a focused stop for oysters, seafood, and a drink than a sprawling restaurant where you can disappear into a corner.

Intimate also means extra cozy. The metal bar chairs were not especially comfortable for me, particularly as someone with long legs. My knees were right against the bar backsplash. There also needs to be enough room behind the chairs for staff to move through and deliver food, so the closeness to the bar is functional even if it is not the loveliest seating arrangement.

If you are lucky enough to get the corner seat, take it. It looked much roomier and seemed like the perfect place to enjoy the small space without feeling quite as tucked in.

One part I appreciated was seeing the chef come around to check on guests and ask whether anyone needed anything. That personal attention fit the size of the room and helped the space feel intentional.

Because there are so few seats, timing matters. We arrived early and happened to catch two seats as they opened. Someone arriving during the heart of dinner service may have a different experience.

I also noticed guests who had reservations or were waiting for tables at the main EDWINS Restaurant next door. If their restaurant table became available after they ordered at the Oyster Bar, staff could bring the Oyster Bar order over to the restaurant. That makes the bar a useful first stop while waiting, although I would confirm the arrangement with the staff when you visit.

Parking near EDWINS Oyster Bar

Parking was manageable, but it helps to understand the area before arriving.

I parked on the street and walked a few minutes to the Oyster Bar. Free street parking was available during my visit. EDWINS also has a small parking lot, although space may be limited when the area is busy. Valet parking was available during my visit as well. Because I could not confirm current valet details on the official website, call ahead if valet service is important to your plans.

There are other parking areas nearby, including lots serving businesses around Cedar Fairmount. The larger area behind the supermarket, Barrio, and Luna Bakery appeared to have more parking, but it would require approximately a three-to-five-minute walk.

There is also a Chipotle lot next door. I would not rely on that lot unless signage clearly allows parking for neighboring businesses. Always check posted restrictions before leaving your car.

One detail that can save first-time visitors some confusion: EDWINS lists the Oyster Bar at the rear of 12383 Cedar Road, but from the street the entrance is right next to the main restaurant.

Make it an evening with Pour Wine + Gifts

After the Oyster Bar, I visited Pour Wine + Gifts nearby. I liked the aesthetic immediately. It is the kind of shop where you can browse wine, find a housewarming gift, and discover something you would not necessarily see in a grocery-store wine aisle.

What stood out to me was the nonalcoholic selection. I remember seeing approximately six nonalcoholic bottles, including sparkling and still options and beverages built around tea.

I purchased a sparkling, hibiscus-tea-style nonalcoholic bottle for approximately $35. I do not have the exact brand name confirmed. I enjoyed trying it, although it was not necessarily a bottle I would purchase again. The shop itself is absolutely somewhere I would revisit. I would return for a tasting, ask them to open a nonalcoholic option, and use the experience to explore the other bottles available.

When I visited, I remembered hearing about tastings on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The current information from Pour clarifies the schedule. As of September 3, 2026, the shop lists its regular wine tasting on Thursdays from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. A separate seasonal Summer Wine & Spritzes promotion listed Thursdays from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with assorted spritzes, spritz ingredients, and chilled summer wine. The promotion highlighted Aperol, Hugo, and Sarti Rosa spritzes.

Because regular and seasonal events can have different times, I would check Pour's current events page or contact the shop before planning a visit around a tasting.

Yes. I would return to EDWINS Oyster Bar for the oysters, the beautifully seasoned crab, the Grand Plateau, and the intimate atmosphere. I would arrive close to opening again because the room is small and seating is first come, first served. If the corner seat were available, I would choose it. I would skip the fried smelt, ask more questions before ordering any chowder, and use the money for more crab or another raw-bar selection.

I would also return to Pour Wine + Gifts, especially for a tasting. Even though the nonalcoholic bottle I purchased was not an automatic repeat, I appreciated having several alcohol-free options to explore and loved the atmosphere of the store.

Together, the Oyster Bar and Pour make an easy Cleveland Heights outing when you want seafood, a little luxury, and time to browse without turning the evening into a major production.

A Brief History and Recent News

Hi Rich people! Let's talk about the beautiful Billagio Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. A site to see when traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada is to the luxury hotel and casino The Bellagio, located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. Built on the former site of the Dunes hotel-casino; conceived by casino owner Steve Wynn. The Bellagio made its debut in 1998 on October 15 as the most expensive hotel ever built at the time, costing $1.6 billion. The Bellagio is owned by Blackstone Inc. and operated by MGM Resorts International. It is a member of The Leading Hotels of the World and has won numerous awards, including the AAA Five Diamond Award 15 years in a row.

Noteworthy History

Early Lodging Facilities

Did you know that Inns were nothing but shelter by the road where travelers could stop to rest and get some food? Inn workers would also take care of traveler’s horses while they rested. This is the time when the seeds of the modern hospitality facility were planted. What we see today is the growth of the past two millennia.

Luxury Hotels in the 19th Century

In the early 1800s, “Inns” were the only lodging facility available to tourists. A lot of Inns were established prior 19th century. But, lodging was not just about bedding and resting facility anymore. They started providing food and drinks for travelers. And soon the element of luxury started to blend in. This gave birth to hotels. Hotels emerged as more sophisticated facilities which provided better rooms and dining areas. The year of 1829 is considered a landmark in the timeline of the American hospitality industry. It was this year when American architect, Isaiah Rogers, designed and constructed the first luxury hotel “Tremont Hotel” in Boston, Massachusetts. The first hotel with private attached bathroom and locks on the doors. “Tremont Hotel” had set a benchmark for the luxurious hotels in those days.

Luxury Hotels in the 20th Century

Resort owner Steve Wynn envisioned the Bellagio as a five-star resort catering to tourists who typically visit places other than Las Vegas, such as Paris, London, or Venice. He said the Bellagio would "redefine Las Vegas", describing it as the "most ambitious" and luxurious project ever attempted by Mirage Resorts. He also said it would be "the most romantic, delicious place ever built in the world", as well as the "greatest" and "most beautiful" hotel ever.

Less than 4 years after the hotel's opening in 2001, Billagio had achieved a four-star rating from Mobil Travel Guide. That year, it became the first hotel-casino to win the AAA Five Diamond Award. It was also the second Las Vegas hotel to win the award, after the Four Seasons did in 1999.

The Billagio Hotel has one several awards over the years and has been among the most profitable hotel- casinos in Las Vegas. In 2004 Bellagio was the most profitable hotel-casino in Las Vegas. In 2010, Bellagio won its 10th consecutive Five Diamond Award, making it the the first resort on the Las Vegas Strip to do so. The Bellagio owned by Blackstone Inc. and operated by MGM Resorts International has won the AAA Five Diamond Award for 15 years in a row.

In addition to the resorts multitude of awards the Bellagio is also known for its world-renowned restaurants, exclusive poker rooms, gallery of fine art, Cirque du Soleil production. conservatory and botanical gardens, The Bellagio is also famous for its fountain shows, which are choreographed to a variety of songs. The Bellagio has been featured in several movies, including the 2001 Ocean's Eleven feature film. More recently the hotel was shown in Bruno Mars' music video 24k Magic. A highlight of the video was Bruno Mars riding a jet ski in the hotel's fountain!

In 2021, the Bellagio announced that it would be upgrading its rooms with a design inspired by its iconic fountains. The new rooms feature a color palette of blues and greens, as well as custom artwork and furnishings. The renovations are part of the hotel's ongoing efforts to provide guests with a luxurious and memorable experience. The Bellagio is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and preserving water resources. The hotel has implemented various environmental programs to accomplish this, including using energy-efficient lighting and appliances, recycling, and reducing water usage.

Recent News

25th Anniversary Celebration

The Bellagio recently celebrated its 25th anniversary with a series of events and promotions. The celebration included a special fountain show and a wine tasting event. The hotel is also offering special packages and discounts to guests during the anniversary month of October. Cyberattack

The attack resulted in the loss of certain customer data up to March of 2019, including names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, dates of birth, driver's license numbers, and in some cases social security and passport numbers. The hotel's IT systems were shut down, which caused several issues for guests, including faulty door locks, inoperable slot machines, and the inability to use digital room keys. The cyberattack cost MGM Resorts about $100 million, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The hackers behind the attack are believed to be part of a group called Scattered Spider, which is known for social engineering attacks. MGM Resorts is working with third-party IT experts to make significant upgrades to its systems to prevent another such attack.

Where did the time go...

Hi Rich People! Where did the years go?!

Since the start of www.renaycheyenne.com in 2017 to three years later in 2020 so much has changed. In 2017 I launched the Rich zone with a website I built. In 2018 I decided to have my website professionally done to include all of the things that I was doing in network marketing. In 2019 I stopped network marketing and revamped my website to be more about my life journey. Now we are in 2020 and I am making a commitment to posting regularly and cultivating a community of like minded people living in the Rich Zone.

I won't begin to pretend that I have all of the answers the only thing that I will do is share my own experiences and unfiltered thoughts on this Rich Journey to help you all on your own journey. This will be motivational, transparent, honest, and rich of course! I plan to share my ups and downs with the idea that I know I am not alone and to help someone who may be going through the same thing. I plan for this to be a blueprint for those that have life questions about how I have dealt with certain aspects of life and how I have gotten to the place that I am.

How to Bounce Back from Failure

Hi Rich People!

Today I want to talk about bouncing back from failure. I often get the impression that people think that I do not have failures in life. As I look back at my life I guess I can see how people would get this idea, but then again, I am also human. I often make mistakes, fall down, and have to rely on my back up, back up plan. I have always been good at school. My academics are important to me. I am a strong believer of knowledge being power. With all of this being said, I work hard to obtain A’s and B’s that people think that I do not get C’s, D’s and even F’s, I have my fair share! I do not have any student loans and people think that I have applied and gotten all of these scholarships with my eloquent writing. Nope, not true I got denied all that I applied for but one; and it was only for one year. Due to my grades, some think that I have gotten into my top pick of colleges. Wrong! I got denied from my top schools and cried real tears! People often tell me how mature I am, how well I interview, and that I can get any job that I apply for. Lies! I have been told we will give you a call with a smile, never to receive the call! Don’t you just hate that! It is very challenging to have your own high expectations and then having to exceed other as well. Do you all know what I am talking about?

Well let me talk about my recent failure…

I recently applied for a law internship at the University of St. Louis Law School. This was a pre-scholars program where I would attend the University of St. Louis Law School for 4 weeks to learn about the law, take the LSAT, and be paired with a lawyer to mentor me for the remainder of my undergrad years in preparation for law school to follow. I would have received a $1,000-dollar stipend, a reimbursement for travel, paid room and board for four weeks including the weekend and have the weekends off to explore the city. Pretty sweet deal, right?

I worked for weeks on my resume with my older sibling. Reached out to my professors for guidance on how to answer the questions the best way. Wrote and rewrote my answers to the essay questions with my younger sister as my editor. I also put my application in early for priority review! I thought I had it. Weeks later I got the email stating that I was placed on the waiting list and will be contacted should there be space. I was so sad. I had planned my whole summer around getting this internship.

So how did I deal?

1- Talked about my feelings

Now I told my family the standard reply “it is what it is”. Downplaying how upset, disappointed, and sad I was. I knew that I was going to continue to feel these feelings unless I got them out so I turned to journaling. I wrote it all down and released the negative feelings and energy. Once I had done this, I was ready to pick myself back up and keep going.

2- Developed a back up plan

Like I mentioned before, I had planned my whole summer around getting this opportunity. Now that I did not, what was I going to do? I was home for the summer and I didn’t want to sit in the house, so I made a list of things that I wanted to do in Cleveland for the summer.

Meet new people because I did not know anyone aside from family in the area

Keeping my New Year’s Resolution

3- Executed said back up plan

To execute my back up plan I started with social media. I followed the local chapters for my Sorors and the Bruhz and went to the events they promoted to meet new people.

I reached out to family members to find a job which is how I secured my current job at Bath and Body Works at Beachwood Place for the summer. I also met new people here as well.

I have a whole board on Pinterest dedicated to my website where I have pinned articles to enhance my website, brand, and keep me motivated. I also looked and checked out books at my local library.

I reflected on the goals I set for myself at the beginning of the year and rededicated myself to them.

4- Redefined purpose

Before, I told myself that I was going to get this internship and enhance myself academically in preparation for my future in academia and the law field. Will as you have already gather through reading, I did not get the internship and I was lost. While I was developing and executing my back up plan, I redefined my purpose for the summer. I realized that I could still use this time to grow. Granted it would not be in the compacity that I originally wanted but it is what I needed in my life. Why cry over spelt milk dwelling on the past and what I possibly could have done differently for the outcome that I wanted when I can move in a different direction and still get the same outcome that I needed!

With these 4 steps I bounced back from failure and I can honestly say that I am having a great summer filled with lessons, situationships, new people, and new experiences. Often times we like to feel bad for ourselves but it is never as bad as we think and someone somewhere is worse off than you. Remember that whatever you are sad or upset about could have been worse. Some like to say count you blessings, some like to say be thankful for what you do have, and some like to say thank your lucky stars but they all mean the same thing and I think you get the picture.

3 Easy Steps To Stay Accountable

My Rich People! How are you?

Today I want to talk about accountability! It is so easy to say we want to do something but a totally different story when it comes to us doing something. This is where accountability comes into play. We often need someone to hold us accountable for the things that we say. How many times have you told yourself that by the time summer comes you’ll be summer time fine? How many times have summer come around and you winter time warm and not ready for the beach? Let me tell you I have done this year after year! So, what make this year different you ask? Well here are 3 easy steps that I do to hold myself accountable for all aspects of my life!

Write it down!

Studies have shown that we are more likely to do something or remember something when we write it down

Tell someone!

You all are my audience, so I always tell you! I post something I want to do or keep up with on all my social media outlets. The moment that it is out in the universe I must be held accountable or lose my platform! I don’t want to lose yall! That would not be Rich at all, so I lead by example.

Consistently research!

My research at this point of the game is finding people on social media to follow that has done or is doing what I want to do. This helps me to constantly see the end goal. How many times have you done a vision board and that’s it? I know I have! So constantly seeing social media posts of bloggers posting new content gets me up and working. Listening to people’s podcast posts that I have subscribed to. Watching different YouTube videos and seeing them in action. All these things help me stay on course.
